So this was a different, difficult one to do.
Like the rest of the world, the two of us find ourselves currently in lock down, and resultingly engaged in a bit of a catch up via Skype…
What began as a general chat about our lockdown listening and viewing (by way of a dissection of Danzig’s “Verotika”) soon takes a less light hearted turn as Bushie discusses his experience of both personally and professionally dealing with Covid 19. We also end up considering the purpose of underground music scenes – particularly Metal and Punk – at this time;the cartoon nihilism and machosimo of the former, and the return to serving as a solitary experience rather than the community aspect of the latter. Jamie then has a bit of a moment of clarity werein he realises decades of producing aggresive and negative music may have perhaps not been the best use of his time.
Along the way we mention the following:
“Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk”
“You Weren’t There” the Chicago Punk Documentary
Conan Neutron’s Protonic Reversal podcast
This episode’s local music Picks come from:
“Old Lavender” by Declan Synnott

And of course, we have to make you watch the trailer for “Verotika”:
